Scuba diving is an activity of diving under the surface of the water using a breathing aid with an air tube. The word scuba itself comes from the abbreviation Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, this tool is carried by the divers themselves when diving. With an air tube that is carried while doing dives, divers are freer to move in the water or can dive longer because of additional oxygen intake. This means that scuba diving requires more tools than free diving and snorkeling. Not only that, Scuba Diving cannot be done carelessly by divers. There is a certification that must be done before divers can (be allowed) to do Scuba Diving.
Freediving is one dive method, some say that if you want to explore yourself under the sea, find something about yourself, that’s all about free diving. Freediving is a diving activity without using a breathing apparatus. Unlike Scuba Diving which uses air tubes when diving, Free Diving is done purely only relying on the air contained in the lungs of divers only. The tools used are Snorkel, Mask, Frog Feet (fin) and diver’s clothes (Scuba Wetsuit) to avoid scratches when there is a collision with the reef. Diving time is of course very limited, depending on the ability to regulate the breath of the divers themselves. Freediving activities are rarely carried out by tourists, free diving is usually carried out by fishing fishers in rivers, lakes and in the sea. Before doing free diving is required to take part in training first. This training is for training breathing while diving without the help of oxygen cylinders. In addition, free diving participants must also have the ability to swim. For diving locations, it is also similar between scuba diving and free diving.
Snorkeling is the activity of swimming on the surface of the water without deeper diving. The tools used are Snorkel, Mask, and Frog Feet. Snorkeling can be done by everyone. Divers who can’t swim or can’t float can wear life jackets. Because basically snorkeling is only done on the surface. By using a snorkel aid, divers can see underwater scenery while breathing through a snorkel. Because only using standard tools, snorkeling activities are usually carried out during the day because it uses the power of sunlight as a lighting source. Snorkeling activities are usually carried out in shallow seas. So that the divers can observe a variety of flora and fauna under the sea without having to be disturbed by visibility because snorkeling activities are only done on the surface of the water.
